August is rural road safety month

Rural Road Safety Month is your call to action. A chance to step up and take responsibility for yourself and for every life around you.

Nationally 906 people were killed on our rural roads in 2025.

Out on rural roads, the risks are real. These roads are often windy, unforgiving and far from help — key reasons why almost two in every three road deaths happen.

That means slowing down, staying alert and calm. It means sharing the road and the responsibility.

This August and beyond, join the journey to drive on rural roads with more than your destination in mind.
