The Smithton Scout Group would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported the recent improvements to the Scout Hall.
Over the past year, the hall has undergone two significant upgrades that will benefit not only local Scouts but also the many community groups that use the facility. The first project was the installation of a new roof, made possible through the generous support of the Smithton Club, Circular Head Council and Findex. This important upgrade has helped protect and preserve the building for many years to come.
The second major improvement was the complete repainting of the hall, giving the building a fresh new look and creating an even more welcoming environment for young people and the wider community. The painting works were made possible through the generous support of Saputo, the Rotary Club of Smithton, Betty Kay, Kingston Bros, the Soroptimist International Smithton Branch, and many volunteers who generously gave their time and effort to complete the project. A special thank you goes to Michael House, who generously donated the paint used for the project.
The Scout Group has been overwhelmed by the generosity shown throughout both projects. We would also like to acknowledge the valuable support provided by the Bendigo Bank Community Bank Circular Head, whose donation enabled the purchase of new first aid kits to help keep our young people safe during activities. Every contribution, whether through funding, materials, volunteer labour or encouragement, has played an important part in improving our facilities. It is through partnerships like these that community facilities can continue to thrive for future generations.
The Scout Hall continues to be a busy hub of activity, with our Cub Scouts enjoying a range of exciting adventures, learning new skills, participating in outdoor activities, working towards badges, and developing confidence, teamwork and leadership skills. It is fantastic to see the enthusiasm and growth of our young members.
As our Cub Scout section continues to grow, we are always keen to welcome new members. Cubs is open to boys and girls aged 8 to 11 years, offering fun, friendship, adventure and opportunities to learn valuable life skills. Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to contact the Smithton Scout Group for more information.
The Group is also beginning preparations for its annual Christmas Pudding Cook. This much-loved community fundraiser helps support local Scouting activities and assists with the ongoing maintenance and improvement of our facilities. We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months and welcome the community’s continued support. The recent improvements to the hall demonstrate what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared commitment to supporting local young people. The hall is not only home to Scouting but also serves as a valuable community facility used by a range of local groups and organisations throughout the Circular Head region.
On behalf of everyone at the Smithton Scout Group, thank you to every individual, business, organisation and volunteer who has helped make these projects possible. Your generosity has created a safer, more welcoming and more sustainable facility that will continue to support local young people and the wider community for many years to come.
